Housing and Meals
On-Campus Housing
Emerson Hall
The building has elevators, underground parking, and laundry facilities. Most rooms have semiprivate baths. As there are many configurations to the rooms, please give us complete information so that we can place you in the room(s) that will be best for your family. Everyone staying in the hall must purchase a full meal package. Linen is provided for each room. See Schedule for check-in times on August 8 and 9. Outside of those hours, pick up and leave room keys at Security. There is a $125 fee to replace lost keys.
Family Apartments (only for members of one immediate family)
There are some apartments available near Emerson Hall. This option will be more economical for large families. The apartments will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, with priority given to families of three or more. Everyone staying in the apartments must purchase a full meal package. The charge for each apartment will be $105 per night regardless of the size of the family. Only members of the same family may share an apartment. Some apartments sleep two, others four or more. It is OK to have extra children in sleeping bags. The apartments are furnished, including linen for each bed.
Off-Campus Housing
Hotels
There are many hotels and motels nearby, but none within walking distance of Seattle Pacific University.
Homestays
Many of our students from Japan would like to have the experience of spending some time staying with an American family. Local families who have participated in the past have had wonderful experiences and made new friends. We will try to match up the age and gender of the visitors with your children. The homestays usually occur after the Institute has ended. If you think you might like to participate, please indicate it on your registration form, and we will contact you as soon as we have more information.
Meals
Cafeteria
Excellent cafeteria meals are available on campus, which must be reserved and paid for in advance (see Fees for more information). Everyone staying in Emerson Hall and the Family Apartments must purchase a full meal package.
Restaurants
There is a Subway outlet on campus.
